Superintendent, Dan White introduces Larry Paska, coordinator, Office of Education Technology
|
On behalf of the New York State Education Department, Monroe #1 BOCES hosted a public forum on the Statewide Educational Technology Plan on Tuesday, October 13th at 15 Linden Park. District Superintendent, Dan White, hosted the forum and introduced Mr. Larry Paska, Coordinator, Office of Educational Technology Policy and Programs, NYSED.
The forum was attended by over 80 professionals, including representatives from 25 school districts from Monroe and surrounding counties, as well as three local colleges and numerous technology businesses.
The forum was presented to: >>Gather public comment on the mission, vision and goals of the draft USNY Statewide Educational Technology Plan. >>Gather recommended action steps to achieve the goals of the draft USNY Statewide Technology Plan. >>Promote awareness about the Board of Regents' initiative to transform learning environments statewide through educational technology.
The New York State Board of Regents is dedicated to closing the gaps in student academic achievement along the lines of income, race and ethnicity, language and disability; and to keeping up with the growing demands for still more knowledge and skill in the face of increasing competition in a changing economy.
A key strategy to address these two challenges is the development of a statewide educational technology plan for the University of the State of New York (USNY), New York’s interconnected system of educational services. The Regents have developed a mission, vision, and six goals for educational technology statewide. These are located at http://www.emsc.nysed.gov/edtech/.
As part of the final development of a technology plan, the series of eight public forums have been convened throughout the State to provide the Regents and the State Education Department with a representative sampling of stakeholder recommendations on the action steps needed to achieve the goals.
