Education Commissioner, Dr. David Steiner, shares a learning moment with a Churchville-Chili student
The new education commissioner, Dr. David Steiner, spent the day Wednesday on a day-long listening tour of several sites in Rochester to see what can be done on the state level in terms of improvement. Steiner visited the Wilson Foundation Academy on Genesee Street, Cathedral School at Holy Rosary on Lexington Avenue, Monroe #1 BOCES' Challenger Learning Center at the Rochester Museum & Science Center on East Avenue, where he also met with the Urban-Suburban Interdistrict Transfer Program Governance Board, the Genesee Community Charter School (at the Museum), the School of the Arts on University Avenue, the Democrat & Chronicle and, finally, Tastings Restaurant where he met with various business leaders.

District Superintendent, Dan White, hosted Dr. Steiner and his group at the Challenger Learning Center where Steve Orcutt, director of instructional technology, Challenger Commanders, Andy Raab and Peter Robson, took them through the Challenger experience with 6th graders from Gates-Chili.

The commissioner thoroughly enjoyed the experience and engaged several students with questions about what they were learning.
