PERL Librarians, Lynda Burcham and Karen Schiess The Parent – Educator Resource Library has merged resources with the Monroe #1 Teacher Center. This collaboration has widened the scope of our collection. We provide an expansive selection of books, videos, audiotapes, newsletters and articles for parents and educators of students with disabilities, as well as general education information. Up-to-date information on the latest research and best practice can be yours by visiting us in person and checking out resources that meet your needs. We also provide services via phone or email request. In addition, the reference librarians offer a research service that includes Internet searches on disability-related topics. "The service you provide is invaluable. You make so many materials accessible to parents, that otherwise would be too expensive, too hard to locate, or too time-consuming. We are very fortunate in this area to have this service." ~ L.P., psychologist, Rochester, NY
"As a local school librarian for over seven years, I have handled hundreds of requests from administrators, teachers, staff, and parents for resources on various disabilities. My best resource for reliable, research-based information is the Parent-Educator Resource Library. You provide a vital service for parents of a disabled child. Many have contacted me to let me know how helpful and reassuring it was to have such a supportive resource." ~ S.C., librarian, Henrietta, NY
"The Parent-Educator Resource Library has been an invaluable tool for me during these last few years. I cannot adequately convey my appreciation for all of your assistance and recommendations as I work with a variety of students that includes extreme learning differences, ESL students, and gifted students. It is also comforting to know that even when I cannot find particular resources, your team knows just where to look. You have consistently empowered me to be a better teacher, but more importantly, you have contributed to the development and education of several student whom you will never know." ~ D.F., middle school learning specialist, Brighton, NY
"I was really impressed how thoroughly and thoughtfully you selected articles that would be helpful for parents of autistic children. As a parent of a child on the ASD spectrum, I wish that all parents, everywhere, had access to services such as PERL provides." ~ T.R., support group leader, Rochester, NY
"This is truly a valuable community resource. Your efforts to make sure current information is available is especially important due to the speed with which new data and research present themselves." ~ P. G., parent, Fairport, NY
