Board of Education

The BOCES Board of Education is comprised of ten non-salaried, dedicated individuals nominated by their component district Boards of Education. Names of those nominated were presented to the Clerk of the BOCES Board of Education at least fourteen days prior to the April Annual Meeting. BOCES Board members are then elected by a majority vote of all component school district board members present and voting.

As elected representatives, the members of the BOCES Board of Education are responsible for setting policies and working with the Administration to implement them.

Mr. Tom Nespeca

President
Term Ends: 2027

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2015 as the Webster Central School District representative. Mr. Nespeca also serves on the Internal Audit Committee, the Technology Committee and the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Legislative Committee. He also serves as the Legislative Liaison of the New York State School Boards Association.

Mrs. Kim McCluski

Term Ends: June 2028

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2020 as the Pittsford Central School District representative. Mrs. McCluski also serves on the District-Wide Safety Committee and the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Information Exchange Committee.

Mrs. Margaret Burns

Term Ends: 2027

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2021 as the West Irondequoit Central School District representative. Mrs. Burns also serves on the Policy Committee, Technology Committee, and the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Legislative Committee.

Mr. D. Bryan Buttram

Term Ends: June 2028

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2001 as the Rush-Henrietta Central School District representative. Mr. Buttram also serves on the Facilities Committee and the Policy Committee. He serves as the Voting Delegate member of the New York State School Boards Association and is a committee member on the Monroe County School Boards Association's District Operations Committee.

Ms. Rebecca Hicks

Term Ends: June 2028

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2022 as the East Rochester Union Free School District representative. Ms. Hicks also serves on the District-Wide Safety Committee.

Mr. Mark Kokanovich

Term Ends: 2027

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2021 as the Brighton Central School District representative. He also serves on the Technology Committee, and the Facilities Committee.

Mrs. Lisa Latten

Term Ends: 2026

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2020 as the Penfield Central School District representative. Mrs. Latten also serves on the Policy Committee and the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Legislative Committee.

Ms. Maureen Nupp

Term Ends: 2027

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2018 as the Fairport Central School District representative. Ms. Nupp also serves on the Internal Audit Committee, the District-wide Safety Committee and the Technology Committee. She serves as the alternate Voting Delegate member of the New York State School Boards Association and is a committee member on the Monroe County School Boards Association's District Operations Committee and Legislative Committee.

Ms. Nancy Semal

Term Ends: 2027

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2015 as the East Irondequoit Central School District representative. Ms. Semal also serves on the Policy Committee, the Internal Audit Committee, and as a committee member on the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Information Exchange Committee.

Mrs. Amy West

Term Ends: 2026

Appointed to serve on the Monroe One BOCES Board of Education in 2023 as the Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District representative. Mrs. West also serves on the Policy Committee, Technology Committee, and the Monroe County School Boards Association’s Legislative Committee.

Maintain and enhance relationships, communication, and awareness of programmatic, budgetary, and political issues with component boards of education and other internal and external stakeholders

Partnership, Service and Collaboration

Innovate and collaborate to evolve and enhance a system of programs and services that are relevant, consistent, visionary, cost effective, reflective of component needs, and promote diversity and equity in an ever changing educational landscape

Curriculum and Instruction

Support the ongoing development of an instructional program that is aligned with the New York State standards and programmatically compatible with component districts
Support ongoing administrative and instructional professional development based upon student achievement data, staff needs, research and best practices

Fiscal Management

Practice due diligence to provide for effective and efficient financial oversight of all programs, services and assets
Base budget decisions on timely, accurate and real-time revenue and expense projections
Enhance understanding of financial processes and decision making through ongoing training and discussion

Technology

Investigate and enhance all areas of technology related practice in order to provide relevant, efficient, and cost effective services and programs to our customers

Long-range Planning

Continue to develop and maintain long-term capital and facilities utilization plans that incorporate ongoing infrastructural and programmatic needs
