  • Congratulations 2019 Certified Nurse Assistants

    Eastern Monroe Career Center’s Advanced Professional Health Careers held its annual Certified Nurse Assistant Pinning Ceremony on June 12. The ceremony included a candle lighting by Jaimalynn Remillard, welcome by Tonya Kelley, RN, BSN, Professional Health Careers teacher and pinning by Ms. Kelley and Michelle Cole, RN, BSN, clinical instructor, and the International Nursing Association Pledge.   • EMCC students inducted into National Technical Honor Society

    On May 22, the Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) recognized 131 students for their outstanding achievement in career and technical education (CTE) by inducting them into the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS). The ceremony was held at the Nazareth College Arts Center before a large gathering of friends and family. Induction into National Technical Honor Society is the country’s highest award for excellence in CTE.

  • EMCC students excel at New York State SkillsUSA Conference

    Fourteen (14) students from the Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) placed in the New York State SkillsUSA Conference at the New York State Fairgrounds April 24-26, 2019. Of these, three first place place winners will be attending the National SkillsUSA Leadership Conference and Skills USA Championships in Louisville, KY, June 24-28.

  • EMCC students to compete in New York State SkillsUSA Conference April 24-26

    More than 60 students from the Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) will travel to the New York State Fairgrounds to compete in the New York State SkillsUSA Conference April 24-26, 2019. At this annual competition, thousands of Career and Technical Education students compete against other students from across the state in timed technical, trade and leadership contests.

  • Students participate in Creative Leadership Conference

    Students from the Eastern Monroe Career Center and Monroe One BOCES’ School Business Partnerships program participated in the 13th Annual Creative Leadership Conference held at St. John Fisher College, April 2-4, 2019. Over the course of the three days, students engaged in creative problem solving, collaboration and innovation by exploring different mindsets, principles and tools. Students used their new skills to work with business clients on the final day of the conference, the much-anticipated Client Day. Joining us this year were special guests Samantha Burda and Jill Clark from Sutherland Global, Wendy Roche from Eastview Mall and Brian Cieslinski from SEI Design Group.

  • Monroe One staff conference day focuses on employee wellness

    On April 8, Monroe One BOCES faculty and staff participated in a professional development day unlike any other. This Superintendent's Conference Day spanned across five locations and offered over 100 sessions covering nearly 50 topics focused on health, wellness and self-care. Many of the sessions were offered by our own Monroe One staff.

  • EMCC Auto Services alum speaks to auto students about career with Tesla

    EMCC Auto Services and Fairport High School 2005 alumnus Mathew Boarman returned to the area to speak to students at EMCC about his career with Tesla Motors on March 26. He even brought along a 2016 Tesla Model X P100D for students to explore.

  • EMCC students learn importance of financial wellness

    In honor of National Public Schools Week, we are pleased to welcome special guests into our EMCC classrooms to speak to students in several of our programs. On March 25, retired federal bankruptcy Judge John Ninfo II visited spoke to New Vision Medical students in their Northside Professional Center about the importance of financial wellness.

  • EMCC students running SkillsUSA toiletry drive

    EMCC students Grace Stephens (Fairport) and Alphonso Rosenbaum (Pittsford) are conducting a toiletry drive to benefit local homeless shelters. With help from EMCC student Alex Vuittonet (Pittsford), the toiletry drive is for the SkillsUSA Community Action Project that leads to the SkillsUSA state competition next month.

    Nearly 60 students who attend programs at the Eastern Monroe Career Center competed in the 30th annual SkillsUSA Region I Leadership Conference and Skills Olympics at Alfred State on March 5. EMCC had another great showing with 11 first place, two second place and three third place wins.

  • EMCC & WBER 90.5 FM collaborate on student-recorded PSA series

    The Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) and WBER 90.5 FM have joined together to create a series of Public Service Announcements (PSAs) that highlight EMCC’s programs and students. Eric DiGiulio, English consultant at EMCC, and Joey Guisto, WBER station manager, have been working with current EMCC students to write and record their individual PSAs.

  • EMCC students present project to industry insider

    Two EMCC classes recently collaborated to complete a Six Sigma project, a problem-solving method used by many workplaces to solve real industry problems. After completing the project, the students in Len Hall’s Automated Manufacturing & Machining class and Joe Alati’s Collision Repair Technology class had the opportunity to present their projects to an industry representative.
