Newly crowned Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen
Dajania James is now representing the entire State of New York as she heads to Dallas for a chance to earn the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.
A junior at East Rochester High School, Dajania has been in the Urban-Suburban program since seventh grade. Her resume is long and impressive; Vice-President of the National Honor Society, Captain of the Senior Company Dance Team at the Floor Dance Company, a member of Jack and Jill of America Inc, and host of the teen-based radio show called “Simply Supreme” on 100.9 WXIR.
Those are just a few of her accomplishments, and now she can add Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen to that list.
The Miss America Organization hosts a Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program, which provides a year of service to candidates as they have opportunities to earn scholarships, develop public speaking skills, engage in community activism, and network with professionals from around the state and nation.
Dajania was representing the Rochester region during the state competition over Memorial Day weekend. She is noted on the organization’s website for her social impact mission of Amplifying Underrepresented Youth Through Media.
During the event, she won the Overall Interview portion and went on to be crowned the winner, earning the title of Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen.
In a public post made just after earning that title, Dajania wrote:
