ERUFSD student places in top 5 at Miss America's Outstanding Teen competition
Dajania James placed in the top 5 at Miss America’s Outstanding Teen competition.
The East Rochester High School student represented the entire State of New York, after earning the state title while representing the Rochester region.
Out of 51 contestants, the rising senior was the 4th runner up in the country, marking the first time in 15 years a New York teen made the top 10 and top 5.
The Miss America’s Outstanding Teen program is hosted by the Miss America Organization and provides a year of service to candidates as they have opportunities to earn scholarships, develop public speaking skills, engage in community activism, and network with professionals from around the state and nation.
Dajania will spend the next year as Miss New York’s Outstanding Teen and is already giving back; speaking at an upcoming family orientation for our Urban-Suburban students where she will share her story and experience within the program.
