Urban-Suburban Shares Program Success at National Conference on School Diversity
At the 5th National Conference on School Diversity, Urban-Suburban (U-S) had the honor of sharing its impact as the first and longest-running voluntary desegregation program in the United States.
Program Director Felicia Smith co-facilitated the Interdistrict Program Session alongside representatives from Boston’s METCO Program and Hartford’s Open Choice Program. Joined by members of the Urban-Suburban team, she highlighted the program’s history, why it remains essential today, and the key factors behind its success.
As the nation’s largest convening focused on school integration, the conference brought together advocates, educators, students, parents, and policymakers from across the country. It was a meaningful opportunity for our team to connect, exchange ideas, and continue working toward a more integrated and equitable future.
