In her blog Uplift Memphis, Uplift the Nation: The Blog for Communication Engagement, Trammell intimately chronicles her journey as a student in the West Irondequoit Central School District via the Urban-Suburban program. Although her blog was in response to an ongoing conversation around transportation, Trammell reflects on significant aspects of the program that are still relevant for current Urban-Suburban students and families. She speaks to the importance of developing cross-racial relationships, the creation of lifelong connections, and socialization limitations that students often experience.
Trammell credits her participation in the Urban-Suburban program for fostering “a strong willingness and ability to have positive relationships with people of diverse ethnicities, nationalities, and backgrounds.”
Currently, Trammell is the associate director of the Benjamin L. Hooks Institute for Social Change at the University of Memphis in Memphis, Tennessee.
