Monroe 1 hosts regional workshop on diversity & inclusiveness in our schools

The New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) and its Commission on Diversity and Inclusivity is committed to ensuring schools and school districts foster an environment that embraces diversity and inclusiveness. As part of this commitment, the Council is holding regional sessions. On May 10, 2019, Monroe 1 BOCES hosted one of these sessions that brought together teams of dedicated learners representing administrators, teachers, staff and board members to connect and engage in thoughtful dialogue on creating diverse and inclusive communities, gender diversity in leadership and building teams for equity.

The day focused on best practices and research on evolving our schools to meet the opportunities and challenges of diversity and cultural inclusivity. Monroe 1 BOCES District Superintendent Dan White welcomed attendees and introduced keynote speaker, Dr. Cephas Archie, chief diversity officer for The College at Brockport State University of New York.

Brockport Central School District Superintendent Dr. Lesli Myers-Small and Greece Central School District Superintendent Kathy Graupman led a discussion on women in leadership.
