Three EMCC Students Compete in National SkillsUSA

Three Eastern Monroe Career Center (EMCC) students traveled to Louisville, Kentucky to compete in the National SkillsUSA Leadership Conference and Skills USA Championships, June 24-28. Avery Cheatle from Brighton CSD, Olivia Spence from Fairport and Chase Herrgesell from West Irondequoit CSD were accompanied by EMCC teachers Joe Alati and Laurie Ewanyk.


Spence, a cosmetology student, earned a certificate for placing 12th out of 40 in the nation in the Customer Service category. Cheatle, who recently completed the Advanced Automated Manufacturing & Machining program, competed in the CNC Milling Specialist category and Herrgesell, who recently completed the Advanced Collision Repair Technology program, competed in Collision Repair.


While in Kentucky, the students and teachers were able to take in some of the sights, including Churchville Downs, a zoo, baseball game and Kentucky Kingdom.
