Vaccine Eligibility for Monroe One employees
School staff are now being phased into the state’s vaccination distribution plan, with all of Monroe One BOCES employees falling into the 1b category.
New York State and the federal government developed plans to ensure everyone will be able to get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as large quantities are available, at no cost no matter where they live.
As NYS enters into Phase 1b, P-12 school district faculty or staff are now eligible to schedule their vaccination. This phase now also includes individuals who are 65 years of age or older and those who are immunocompromised.
This includes all teachers, substitute teachers, student teachers, school administrators, paraprofessional staff and support staff, including bus drivers, clerical, and maintenance. Contractors working in a P-12 school, including contracted bus drivers, are also eligible.
The Monroe County Department of Public Health is putting together a plan to identify and vaccinate school employees. At this time, MCDPH has indicated they are still providing vaccines for those in phase 1a, which includes school health office personnel. This means they do not currently have appointments available for school workers in phase 1b.
Local health officials suggest individuals who are eligible and interested in the COVID-19 vaccination continue to check the MCDPH website each day for updates and scheduling opportunities.
This website provides a link to sign up for an appointment at Monroe County site(s) as they become available. The website also provides information on the documentation you need to bring to the vaccination site at the time of your appointment.
You are not limited to just the MCDPH website. You can also check the local Department of Health in your county of residence to see if appointments or clinics are available.
In addition, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has provided this link to help individuals assess their eligibility in 1A and 1B
Once you receive your eligibility, this website then directs you to other possible sites to schedule a vaccine appointment, including the NYSDOH developed sites, the closest of which is at the State Fairgrounds in the Syracuse area.
Please note, you can only receive a vaccine with an appointment, there are no walk-ins being accepted at sites at this time.
New York State also has a vaccination hotline that can begin to be accessed at 1-833-697-4829.
Monroe One is continuing to gather more information as to the specific process for educators as a group in Monroe County. Those updates will be sent to employees as soon as they are available.
