The Monroe County Department of Public Health has designated a number of vaccinations specifically for those who work in K-12 education. The MCDPH is asking school districts to sign up employees when vaccination slots become available.

School staff who are interested in signing up for an appointment this way are asked to fill out the form sent to their BOCES email account.

This is only for those individuals who have not received a first or second dose or who already have an appointment scheduled.

The number of slots is limited based on the county’s supply and will vary from week to week. Monroe One will be following guidance from health officials on designating departments to sign up for those vaccines.

Here is what to expect:

  • Monroe One will email out information to employees that will contain a form for staff to fill out if they wish to get a vaccine.

    • This form will include information such as name, address, date of birth, and job title.

    • Appointment availability will be based on MCDPH guidance and will occur as often as supplies allow.

  • Monroe One will then submit the form to MCDPH on the employee’s behalf.

  • The employee will get a confirmation email from MCDPH to their BOCES email address.

    • This will include the date, time, and location of the appointment along with information on what to bring with you.

  • If an employee needs to cancel the appointment, they will need to go through the MCDPH directly to do so

It will take time to schedule everyone who is looking to receive a vaccine. While filling out the form through this process does not guarantee an appointment, we are hopeful the number of designated slots will increase in the near future

School staff are now being phased into the state’s vaccination distribution plan, with all of Monroe One BOCES employees falling into the 1b category.

New York State and the federal government developed plans to ensure everyone will be able to get a COVID-19 vaccine as soon as large quantities are available, at no cost no matter where they live.

As NYS enters into Phase 1b, P-12 school district faculty or staff are now eligible to schedule their vaccination. This phase now also includes individuals who are 65 years of age or older and those who are immunocompromised.

This includes all teachers, substitute teachers, student teachers, school administrators, paraprofessional staff and support staff, including bus drivers, clerical, and maintenance. Contractors working in a P-12 school, including contracted bus drivers, are also eligible.

Local health officials suggest individuals who are eligible and interested in the COVID-19 vaccination continue to check the MCDPH website each day for updates and scheduling opportunities.
