Area students complete Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience
The Summer Advanced Manufacturing Experience (SAME) gives area high school students a chance to explore the world of advanced manufacturing.
Held by BOCES Career and Technical Education Centers, EMCC and WEMOCO, the three-week intensive gives juniors and seniors hands-on experience and the opportunity to tour local manufacturing companies.
Students will also earn credits through Monroe Community College, and aims to introduce students to a potential career and/or education path, while also building the community of skilled workers in our region.
EMCC’s SAME program also aims to increase the number of female students in the field, with half of those participating in this year’s program being teenage girls.
On Friday, the students participating in the SAME program will be recognized in a ceremony held in their honor.
Since beginning in the summer of 2012, a number of the students participating in the SAME program go on to enroll in CTE classes at EMCC and WEMOCO.
