Monroe One gingerbread house to be displayed at the George Eastman Museum

A delicious creation crafted by Monroe One students will be displayed at the George Eastman Museum this holiday season. The Multi-Occupation/FOCUS Consumer and Family Sciences classes designed, baked, and masterfully-decorated a gingerbread house. It will be part of the Sweet Creations display at the museum through the first of the year.

Look closely at the gingerbread house and you’ll see a lot of hard work. Students spent time drawing their ideal house and assessing the candy that would be needed to bring their designs to life. They then had to work together to make gummies and pretzels into windows, marshmallows into siding, and gumdrops into shingles. Everything came together on the gingerbread structure using a healthy dose of frosting.

This sweet part of the holiday season will be one of dozens on display at the George Eastman Museum from Saturday, November 12 – Sunday, January 1. Every gingerbread house you see will be available in a silent auction.
