Congratulations, Creekside Award winners!
The Creekside Award winners remind us what growth, connection, and perseverance look like in action. Join us in celebrating this inspiring group of students and all they’ve achieved!
Ben
Ben has made significant growth in all areas of his program. He has been able to independently use sign language/gestures to express his needs and wants with a wide variety of staff. Ben has been able to demonstrate and use his coping skills to regulate. Ben does a fantastic job sharing his space with another student during his leisure activity. He can leave his classroom and participate in all his electives and attend his work programs, Handmade Paper Products and Shelley’s Closet.
One of his favorite things to do at Creekside is to exchange his tokens for all kinds of “treasures” at the Treasure Chest each week. Ben has developed an interest in nature; he likes to watch and listen to the creek, and he enjoys looking for different wildlife. We are so proud of you, Ben!
Brantley
Brantley has consistently shown a willingness to learn and succeed in all areas of his academics and his social and emotional growth.
One of Brantley's greatest strengths is his persistence and willpower. Whether it's math or ELA, he will try to the best of his ability to approach each challenge with a positive attitude.
Beyond his academic successes, Brantley is also a wonderful member of the school community. He is kind, compassionate, and always willing to lend a helping hand to his peers. His positive attitude and behavior have earned him the respect and appreciation of his teachers and classmates alike.
He is a team player who is always willing to work together with others. His positive interactions with others have created a welcoming and inclusive environment, and he is an excellent role model for his peers.
Carter
Carter has made great progress and built strong relationships with many students and staff members. Carter has continued to develop his strong reading skills, and you can hear him reading the newest Veggie Tale scripts as he walks through the halls. Along with his academic progress, Carter has increased his independence and can follow his schedule throughout the day.
Carter represented Creekside on the basketball team, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship while sinking several three-pointers. A passionate sports fan, he delights in reminding staff why Patrick Mahomes tops their favorite quarterback. Carter has been a good friend to his classmates and built strong relationships across the school. We’re proud of everything Carter has accomplished this year and can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.
DJ
DJ is a kind-hearted young man and a role model for all. He is always ready to learn and participate in his day. He is a leader in our classroom and school community, and DJ is always willing to help others throughout the school community. He is on our student leadership team and plays an integral role in planning and implementing schoolwide events for all students to enjoy.
DJ also volunteers in cooking class to support the medically fragile students. DJ has strong connections with both staff and students across the Creekside community; he highly values these relationships as well as his relationships with his mom, grandma, and siblings. DJ has shown much growth this year both academically and socially; we look forward to watching DJ’s continued growth during his time at Creekside.
Jackson
Jack has made many strides this year. Jack is a role model at Creekside regarding his respect for others, his patience, and in the way he treats his peers. Jack makes sure that everyone is included and is seen. He often points things out to his peers that he knows they like. Whether it’s pointing Disney movies out to his peers and staff, he always tries to put a smile on their face.
Jack has also grown to be flexible with changes that require patience. Waiting can be difficult, but Jack proves it can be done! Jack has also grown in his love for i-Ready ELA and math. Math i-Ready was not always his favorite, but he put the rubber on the road and has made many achievements in his math growth this year. Wonderful job!
Joniel
Joniel is an amazing student who comes in every day with a smile ready to learn. I want to highlight how proud I am of Joniel for his improved attendance. Due to this improvement, Joniel has grown so much academically, and I couldn’t be prouder of the student and person he has become.
Joniel is such a light in our classroom. He is a great friend to others, makes everyone laugh, and does the best cartwheels I have ever seen. Joniel, I hope you feel proud of yourself for how much you have grown and never believe you are anything less than amazing! Keep up the amazing work.

You’ve had so many changes this year that were difficult and new, but you’ve met them with a determination that is truly inspiring. Your growth over time has been remarkable, and it's a joy to see how far you've come through your consistent effort and positive attitude.
You’ve shown everyone that improvement isn't about being perfect, it's about showing up, trying your best, and never giving up, even when things are tough. We are all so proud of you and excited to see all the amazing things you will continue to achieve.
