About MCEC

  • MCEC is a partnership of members working together to provide the best public education possible, resulting in programs that are recognized nationally for their excellence.

    MCEC is made up of organizations representing:

    • over 60,000 parents and teachers;
    • 155+ locally elected school board members;
    • 21 superintendents;
    • and district administrators.



  • The Purpose of the Monroe County Education Coalition is to:

    • Increase community awareness and support for our excellent local public schools
    • Increase community awareness of societal issues that impact children's ability to learn
    • Encourage coalitions and teamwork among members
    • Seek funding to support public education—
      • Seek fair, predictable, equitable state funding for public schools
      • Raise issues that impact public schools, such as the priority of education or the funding of charter schools
      • Insist on the funding needed to support required education reforms
