MCEC is a partnership of members working together to provide the best public education possible, resulting in programs that are recognized nationally for their excellence.
MCEC is made up of organizations representing:
- over 60,000 parents and teachers;
- 155+ locally elected school board members;
- 21 superintendents;
- and district administrators.
Purpose

The Purpose of the Monroe County Education Coalition is to:
- Increase community awareness and support for our excellent local public schools
- Increase community awareness of societal issues that impact children's ability to learn
- Encourage coalitions and teamwork among members
- Seek funding to support public education—
- Seek fair, predictable, equitable state funding for public schools
- Raise issues that impact public schools, such as the priority of education or the funding of charter schools
- Insist on the funding needed to support required education reforms
