Urban-Suburban Program Scholarship Award History
-
In 1985, the Urban-Suburban Program Commemorated its 20th anniversary by establishing a scholarship award to honor the achievements demonstrated by hundreds of former and future graduates. The Reidman Corporation of Rochester, Monroe County, through the auspices of the Rochester Chamber of Commerce donated $3,000 to cover two award years.
At the end of the two-year period, Urban-Suburban parents urged that the scholarship awards be continued. Subsequently, scholarships are awarded each year with monies provided through voluntary contributions of annual family dues/pledge and program fundraisers lead by parents.
Since its inception, 431 graduating students have received $303,625 via the Urban-Suburban Scholarship Award.
In the spirit of the Program goals, the Urban-Suburban Scholarship Committee awards scholarships to Urban-Suburban students for their achievements.
