Accident Notification and Bus Delay Procedure

  • Annual Notification

    The Rochester City School District (RSCD) Transportation Contract Liaison will post and review this procedure with all RCSD dispatchers annually and before the end of the first week of school.

    AM Accident Notification and Bus Delay Procedures

    1. First Student driver will notify First Student dispatcher. First Student dispatcher will contact 911 and the Rochester City School District dispatcher.

    2. The Rochester City School District Transportation Contract Liaison will notify all affected suburban transportation departments.

    3. The suburban transportation departments will then notify their respective schools, appropriate district leaders/others, and the Urban-Suburban Program.

    4. The Rochester City School District Transportation Department will notify the parents that have children involved in the accident.

    PM Accident Notification and Bus Delay Procedures

    If an accident occurs in the afternoon the Rochester City School District will notify parents of all affected students and suburban transportation departments. Suburban transportation departments will then notify all affected schools, appropriate district leaders/others, and the Urban-Suburban Program.

    Urban-Suburban Responsibility

    1. Annually, the Urban-Suburban Program will provide all suburban transportation departments and schools with a list of all students and their route numbers, no later than the end of the first full week of school for all participating suburban districts.

    2. The Urban-Suburban Program will send a letter to the parents of all students who are transported by the Rochester City School District informing them that it is their responsibility to maintain accurate contact information with the school and program in case of an accident or emergency.
