NYS School Age High-School Equivalency programA Branch of Regional Programs and Services
The NYS School Age High-School Equivalency program prepares students who will not graduate with their class because of credit deficiency, but are otherwise capable of completing graduation requirements, to achieve their high school equivalency diploma.
- Students attend class Monday through Friday from 10:50 a.m. – 1:50 p.m.
- Students work independently on an individualized plan, as well as in groups.
- The length of the program varies according to the student’s age, academic ability, and
work ethic.

Eligibility
Eligibility for NYS School Age High-School Equivalency program
The student must:
- Be between ages 16*–20
*16 year-olds who have not completed the school year in which they turn 16 will be required to meet the NYSED minimum attendance requirement of 27.5 hours per week by participating in a vocational experience - Be referred by their home district
- Have not graduated from high school, have not accumulated adequate Regents credits, and/or is at risk of dropping out of school
- Score a minimum of 9.0 in reading and math on the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) which is administered prior to an intake meeting.
- Be between ages 16*–20
