Mental Health Services

  • School Psychologists and School Social Workers strive to maximize a student’s academic potential and personal success in collaboration with families, school personnel and community resources. They aspire to a child-centered system that encourages family participation in the educational lives of the children.

    Monroe One provides Social Work and Psychology support in all of our Special Education programs. In addition, we can provide a wide range of services designed to help students achieve success in their home school settings.

     

CoSer Services

  • Family Life Education and Counseling Service (FLECS):

    FLECS offers confidential Family Counseling and Consultation/Training to Professionals in public and private agencies serving students birth to 21 years. The goal is to develop family system interventions for use in the school setting, and collaboration among school-family-communicy agencies. FLECS provides service that is individualized to the needs of the student, family, or program.

    General Psychological services:

    Counseling, parent conferencing and teacher consultation on educational, family, behavioral, and social emotional issues are an integral part of this service.

    Social Work services:

    Assessment of student and/or family needs through observation, school consultation, family interviews and counseling. Psychosocial development, family dynamics/strengths and community support are an integral part of this service.

    Specialty Psychological Assessments:

    Psychoeducational assessments of students identified as deaf/hard or hearing, visually impaired, autistic or with severe mental retardation. This service is most effective when it occurs in collaboration with the school interdisciplinary team.

    Specialty Mental Health Services:

    Inservice training and staff development on topics that may include (but are not limited to) classroom management, stress management, family systems, working with challenging students, working with students who are oppositional and defiant, Solution Focused Brief Therapy Techniques, developing Functional Behavioral Assessments, and school system change. In addition, support groups for students and parents can be provided.
