The Monroe One BOCES Educational Foundation is a private, not-for-profit, 501(c)3 organization established to foster, encourage and enrich academic programs for Monroe One BOCES students. The Foundation also has the goal of promoting and assisting in the marketing of innovative, BOCES developed technology and programs. The Foundation accomplishes this by working collaboratively with educational and business leaders to raise funds and award grants to staff and students.

Enriching Educational Opportunities   

Monroe #1 BOCES has been a leader in developing technology-based, educational opportunities such as the Bathysphere Underwater Biological Laboratory (BUBL™) and the Challenger Learning Center at the Rochester Museum and Science Center. BUBL™ is a simulated, interactive, standards-based underwater exploration for middle school students. The Challenger Learning Center is a simulated, standards-based space exploration experience for 5th and 6th grade students. 

Motorola Innovation Grants

Motorola Innovation Grants in 2009 and 2010 made possible the development of the Green Machine Solar Research Vehicle which was launched on September 29, 2010.

Program Grants

The Foundation funds grant requests that promote BOCES programs and students in ways that complement the existing education programs. These activities enrich regular BOCES programs or provide opportunities for students that might not be fully funded from normal budget sources or state and federal aid. The grants are given to teachers to enrich student learning opportunities in a given school year or as mini-scholarships to students attending BOCES programs.

The Foundation also provides scholarships for Monroe #1 BOCES graduates enrolled in transition programs for students 18-21 years of age, focusing on post-high school education and workskills to prepare them for competitive employment.
