  • Welcome to Construction Trades website!

    Program Highlights:

Students learn the fundamentals of commercial and residential construction.  First year students get hand on experience in framing walls, floors and roofs.    They will install, finish and paint drywall along with crown molding and baseboard.  We will also cover roofing, venting, siding and windows and doors.    Second year students will focus on footings, block walls, ICF foundations, stair construction and residential plumbing.  In addition,  we study a NYSERDA based curriculum that specializes in building science for more efficient and energy smart structures.  Check out the links to the various resources we use.

Each year a program highlight is sending students to the NY State Skills USA competition in Syracuse.  This competition includes a team of 4 student that will compete with students across the state in masonry, carpentry, plumbing and electrical.  If student place 1st in the state they can then compete at the national level. Check out the Skills USA links.

During the advanced year, students with good attendance and a passing grade are eligible to go on an internship or paid co-op.  This is a great resume building opportunity that can lead to full time employment after graduation.
