Hello fellow mathematicians! Welcome to Holly Smith's Webpage! Thank you very much for logging onto my O'Connor Academy Webpage and checking out how much fun we have in class. Along with math fun, we are learning about how to apply mathematics to real life in Financial Math and Applications and Geometry. Math is all around us and used more than you think as adults in a complicated world.
I believe that students are the hope for the future. I chose to be a teacher so that I can share my positive spirit with students. Every day I try to add richness and beauty to my own world in order to enrich the lives of others.
I believe that teaching helps each student become his/her best self: mentally, socially, physically, and emotionally. To provide an example, I need to be aware of my responsibility to live understandingly, honorably, and generously, and be thankful for all that I have. I think it is important to foster a positive attitude and to help students work towards positive principles: considerate of each other’s rights, obligations, and abilities; to respect the property of others, respect the dignity and worth of every individual, respect leadership and authority, and to show responsibility for one’s self as well as the welfare of all mankind.
Finally, I believe education is the basis for society. Through education, our society can be continuously improved and strengthened. By being a teacher here at O’Connor Academy, I believe I can help build a better world, one person at a time.
When I’m not being a teacher, I run, teach Zumba, and workout. I been playing the trombone for 45 years, and am in a local big band. I love to sew, upholster, needlework, scrapbooking and other creative crafts. I have 4 grown children who are the lights of my world.
