    PPE for Staff Members
    (by classification of individual wearing PPE)

    Low Intensity Contact:

    School staff and students must interact, physical distancing cannot always be maintained.

    These staff must wear:

    • Cloth Face Covering

     

    Moderate Intensity Contact:

    School staff must interact with students, physical distancing cannot be maintained for prolonged periods of time, student is not suspected of having COVID-19.
    Examples: 1:1 testing or therapy situations.
    Consider staff use for close contact with students who cannot manage bodily fluids (cough/sneeze/oral secretions) and/or are unable to wear their own facial covering.

    These staff must wear:

    • Surgical Facemask
    • Eye Protection
    • Gloves

     

    High Intensity Contact:

    Tasks include physical or nursing assessment of any individual suspected of having COVID-19.
    As soon as possible, a sick and symptomatic person should wear a surgical mask.
    Duties that require close/direct contact within six feet of people who are suspected of having COVID-19 undergoing procedures that may generate aerosolization of body fluid, such as airway suctioning, nebulizer treatment, CPAP or BiPAP, or manual ventilation should do these procedures in a well-ventilated room isolated from others if possible.

    These staff must wear:

    • N95 Mask
    • Surgical Facemask
      - may be doubled if N95 is not available, or may be used singly with a face shield if N95 unavailable (Information provided by the school physician)
    • Eye Protection
    • Gloves
    • Gown
