COVID Paid Sick Time for Employees

Paid Federal COVID Days (CE) have expired but staff can now use paid New York State Quarantine Days starting March 1, 2021
State Quarantine days are coded as “SQ” on timesheets.
- State Quarantine days can only be used for the following:
Any first order of mandatory quarantine or isolation issued to the employee.
- This includes days taken to quarantine while waiting for COVID test results.
- Family or other household members
If a family or household member tests positive and the employee has an order of mandatory quarantine or isolation, those absences will be State Quarantine (SQ) days.
There must be a documented quarantine/isolation order for the employee issued by one of the counties’ Health Departments.

Any additional absences from work due to a mandatory isolation for the employee’s own COVID-positive result. If the test result is not positive, the absence will be coded as Sick days.
Important:
Once quarantine has ended and an employee has been cleared to return to work by Tracy Birge in HR, any additional days taken will be coded as sick time. - State Quarantine days can only be used for the following:
