My placements is asking me to push-into classrooms. Doesn't this mean I will be exposed to more students?
Almost all placements are requesting that you provide push-in services for their students (districts as well as BOCES classrooms). This will make it easier to maintain social distancing and allows the students to use their own supplies without touching surfaces in shared spaces like therapy rooms. It will also keep students in a cohort to assist with any contact tracing needs.
Items such as PPE and sanitizer recommended by the CDC for safety will be available, similar to provisions used in a clinic or doctor's office.

Can we see students in groups in our therapy room who are not from the same learning cohort?
No, and we have accounted for this when calculating your group sessions. Pushing in to the classroom helps with social distancing, health and safety guidelines, and contact tracing.
NYS is allowing IEPs to stay as they are, and group sessions do not need to be changed on the IEP.

Teletherapy requires very careful planning. If we are to go to a remote model, will we have extra planning time built into our schedules?
Planning sessions will be provided throughout the week, in accordance with the BUP contract. In addition, a new resource will be provided to assist in remote, as well as in-person, therapy.
-
If we are providing therapy services, do we always need to maintain 6’ of social distance?
You must remain six feet apart if an individual (student or therapist) does not have a mask on. Guidelines allow for you to work in a closer proximity if the proper PPE is being worn.

What about home instruction?
There will be very specific requirements that need to be met before in-home instruction is allowed. We will first explore every option possible for providing the instruction outside of a student’s home. This includes working with component districts to provide a space where our staff members can meet a student. For example, if a student who is homeschooled receives OT we will find an on-site location to provide those services.
If there is a medical reason a student cannot leave their home, we will evaluate the level of PPE needed to make sure the person who interacts with that student has a higher level of equipment. We will make sure that staff member has higher PPE and laundry service available to them. For those who this applies to, more specifics will be developed and communicated.

What if we have to travel to different sites?
Monroe One is collaborating with all the sites on their reopening guidelines We are looking at their reentry plans and evaluating their cleaning procedures for between sessions and making sure the facility’s plan is up to our standards. We also have cleaning supplies available for staff members who wish to bring those with them.
