On May 23, Monroe One held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate several major campus improvement projects. These upgrades are set to enhance the academic opportunities and safety of our students.

District Superintendent Dan White expressed gratitude for the support from various stakeholders, including state and local officials, partnering school districts, and the dedicated Monroe One staff.

Monroe One Board of Education President Kim McCluski highlighted the significant changes made to the campus, emphasizing safety features, expanded accessibility, and cohesive building designs.

O’Connor Academy senior Alyiah E. was a student speaker at the event and provided insight into how students were using the new state-of-the-art facilities, including the culinary arts kitchen. She shared her positive experiences in the new facility, particularly the spacious and organized environment that enhances learning.

The ceremony also featured Bryan W., a recent graduate of Eastern Monroe Career Center. Bryan graduated from the Automated Manufacturing and Machining program in 2023 and spoke about how the upgraded workshops prepared him for his current career in optics.

The event concluded with the official ribbon cutting, followed by student-guided tours of the newly renovated spaces, allowing attendees to see firsthand the improvements made to support student success.

During those tours, guests also had the opportunity to meet with students in EMCC’s cosmetology program who showcased the new suites. They were able to see the updated student-run restaurant, Three Seasons, and speak with instructors who lead Career and Technical Education programs like Welding and Automated Manufacturing and Machining.
