Monroe One BOCES bus driver wins coveted award

Kevin Hoover poses for a picture with Paula Powell and Denise Hazzard.

Each year, the Rochester Area Transportation Supervisors Association awards exceptional employees from area school districts. Monroe One BOCES bus driver Kevin Hoover received RATSA's 2024 Professional Transportation Employee of the Year recognition.

Kevin was awarded at a ceremony in May alongside transportation honorees from 25 area school districts.

Monroe One Bus Driver Trainer and Safety Coordinator, Denise Hazzard, nominated Kevin for the award. She wrote that he “goes above and beyond to make his students feel a part of the ride. He mounted a microphone and clipboard on his bus so that one of his students can “call” dispatch at the same time Kevin calls. He gives all his students a feeling of inclusivity and kindness.”

To receive the award, the transportation professionals must have good attendance, be accident free, have a friendly disposition, and readily accept and exceed responsibilities. They are also expected to relate well with fellow workers, parents, and children.

Kevin Hoover has served Monroe One for 11 years. Please join us in expressing our gratitude and congratulations!
