Inspired by Shelley

  • Monroe #1 BOCES paraeducator, Carol Tavormina, came up with the idea of starting a clothing bank for students, and she wanted to name it after a very special person named Shelley.

Shelley was 11 years old when Carol met her. Shelley faced many health challenges, including seizures, and Carol assisted with her daily care.

Today, more than 37 years later, Carol and Shelley live thousands of miles apart, but they still keep in touch! Shelley lives in a group home, and every week, she delivers donations to help others in need. Through her selfless acts of kindness and charity, Shelley serves as an inspiration for us all:

If Shelley can do it, why can't we?
