Eastern Monroe Career Center offers 19 programs in human and public services, medical careers, technology, business, trade and industrial fields to high school students during their junior and/or senior year. Students attend a morning session (8:20-10:40 am) or an afternoon session (11:45 -1:50 pm), and engage in hands-on learning activities that teach skills and attitudes needed in business, industry and service sectors. Real life work experiences are offered in all courses. Many career and technical education programs offer college credits to students while they are enrolled in high school. Students may also earn high school credit in English 12, mathematics, science, health and social studies.

The vocational assessment focuses on obtaining information about an individual's interest, aptitudes, abilities and behaviors, as a basis for career exploration and planning. Information is used to determine a specific career path, recommend training/education environments in which to explore careers and/or suggest strategies and adaptations which could enhance the career exploration and education process. The assessment might include standardized tests, standardized work samples, behavioral observation and structured or informal discussion. Following the vocational assessment, the vocational evaluator will provide a comprehensive report with specific recommendations that can be used in developing the student's educational transition and career plans.

The Work Experience Program provides an opportunity for students, 14 years of age and over, to participate in a variety of work or community placements. The Work Experience Program offers a continuum of actual work experiences, along with classroom instruction, allowing students to obtain marketable skills that they can apply to real-world employment while earning credit. There are two options: Work Study - Paid experience without school credit Work Experience- Paid experience with school credit .5 credit for 150 hours 1.0 credit for 300 hours.

The Work Training Center (WTC) operates as an on-campus community rehabilitation center at the Forman Center's Creekside School. The WTC provides an introductory work experience to students through the use of hands-on paid work, and work simulation trainings. The WTC currently runs a laundry service, a bulk mail service, a packaging operation, a document destruction service, and provides janitorial services. This program is intended for students who are 16 - 21 years old, and have met the employment eligibility requirements.

Technical assistance on the State Performance Plan (SPP) transition related indicators (1, 2, 8, 13,14) is a major focus.
