• Pre-Vocational Programs


    The Creekside Pre-Vocational Programs are designed to provide students with functional living skills and meaningful vocational training in a safe and supportive setting. The students may participate in a variety of experiences, which build the foundation for achieving their post-graduation goals.

Work Skills

  • The Work Skills program offers students an environment to develop basic work skills, attitudes and behaviors. Including attention to task, endurance on the job, fine motor development, following direction and social/communication skills. Students participate in a range of tasks from simple hand assembly to collection and delivery jobs around the building. 

    Special Considerations:

    • A continuum of supervision from 1:1 to independent
    • Non-paid
     

Treasure Chest

  • The Treasure Chest program provides an introductory retail experience as an added opportunity for students after the development of basic work skills. Students participate in merchandise research & consumer skills, sales floor management; operate cash register, customer service and maintaining store appearance.

    Special Considerations:

    • Moderate to high level of independence needed
    • Must complete an application & interview
    • Non-paid
     

Introductory Vocational Experience (IVE)

  • The Introductory Vocational Experience (IVE) program offers a self-contained routine environment. “Hands-on” assembly projects, work simulations and volunteer projects are utilized to reinforce and develop basic work skills, attitudes and behaviors. Students complete Ellison Die Cut orders.

    Special Considerations:

    • Supervised/classroom staff support as needed

Vocational Cooking I & II

  • The Vocational Cooking classes have a focus on menu planning, food safety and cooking a variety of foods each week. These classes serve to further develop student’s cooking skills and independence. Also, they provide a foundation for later culinary vocational training.

    Special Considerations:

    • Moderate level of independent functioning recommended
    • no minimum age requirement
    • Non-paid
    • Demonstrates an interest in cooking
