Death in the Family and Funeral Days

Five “Death in the immediate family” days may be used for travel or arrangements, when a member of an employee’s immediate family dies. For immediate family definition, please consult your contract.
Up to one (1) Funeral day may be granted to attend the funeral of a close friend or relative not considered “immediate family” during the regular school year. These Funeral days are not available during Extended School Year (ESY).
When contacting your Supervisor regarding a funeral day for someone not in your immediate family, please share the person’s relationship to you.
